Alissa Wald, O.D. – Managing Doctor
Born and raised in a small town in Michigan, Dr. Alissa Wald knew she wanted to be an optometrist from the early age of fifteen. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan and remains a diehard Wolverines fan. Dr. Wald obtained her Doctorate of Optometry degree with honors in 1989 from the University of Houston College of Optometry. In 1990, she headed west to the warmer weather of Southern California. Only two years out of school, Dr.Wald bought a small optometry office from a retiring doctor and began OC Eye Designs Optometry. She has proudly provided outstanding eyecare to the Costa Mesa community since 1991. Dr Wald’s professional experience includes working as an Expert Examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. The National Board certifies the competency of new optometrists.
Her office has also been externship site providing internships for optometrists in school. She was featured in a national magazine about women in optometry as a role model for other women entrepreneurs. Dr. Wald is a member of the California Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association and the National Association of Women Business Owners. Her hobbies include antique shopping and traveling. She also enjoys spending time with her family.
Sheena Ansarinia, O.D.
Dr. Ansarinia was born and raised in San Francisco. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physiology at San Francisco State University. Since childhood, Dr. Ansarinia knew she wanted to be involved in healthcare. She volunteered at the UCSF Medical Center and Stanford Hospital & Clinics. She also shadowed many doctors in different fields, which is how she developed a strong interest in optometry.
After graduating from SFSU, Dr. Ansarinia attended Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry. She received extensive training at the San Diego Naval Clinics, South Coast Eye Care Center in Laguna Hills, Veterans Affairs William Bryan Jennings Dorn in South Carolina, and the Vision Center of West Phoenix in Arizona. During optometry school, she was also recognized as the Good-Lite Outstanding Student Clinician in Pediatrics. After receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree, Dr. Ansarinia completed a residency program and then practiced at the Vision Center of West Phoenix where she gained extensive experience in ocular diseases and specialty contact lenses. She also had the opportunity to train and mentor 4th year optometry students during their clinical externships.
Dr. Ansarinia provides both pediatric (ages 4 and up) and adult eye care and has a strong interest in corneal and retinal diseases, glaucoma, specialty contact lenses, and myopia control. She strives to provide quality eye care for her patients and address their specific visual needs.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, as well as playing volleyball. Even though she moved to Orange County, she is still loyal to her Bay Area sports teams. She is also fluent in Persian (Farsi) and has basic medical Spanish knowledge.
Monica Rani, O.D.
Dr. Monica Rani was born in India and grew up in Upland, CA. She graduated from UCLA with a bachelor’s in biology and went on to graduate from the UC Berkeley School of Optometry where she had extensive experience in patient care treating everyone from pediatric to geriatric population. Her time in rigorous externships gave her clinical experience treating glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, dry eyes and other conditions. Her exams are tailored to each patient’s eye concerns, and she prides herself on thoroughness and patient education.
Dr. Rani is passionate about low vision and myopia control including specialty contact lens fittings. She won the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award presented for excellence in the field.
In her free time, Dr. Rani enjoys trying new recipes, listening to audio books, nurturing her plant collection, and traveling with her fiancé.
Danielle Goldberg, O.D.
Costa Mesa eye doctor Danielle Goldberg is originally from Weston, Connecticut, and obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester with a Bachelors of Arts in Biology and Psychology and a minor in Art History. She earned her Doctorate degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA where she was selected to participate in an Accelerated Clinical Immersion Program and was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. In 2015 she earned recognition at the American Academy of Optometry national conference for her superior academic and clinical performance.
Dr. Goldberg is a member of the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association. She has extensive experience in contact lens fittings, glaucoma treatment, dry eye management, and pediatric and binocular vision disorders. Dr. Goldberg joins us from a leading private optometry practice in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Her training includes internships at Boston University Medical Center, VA Hospital in Boston, MA and at Perkins School for the Blind in Boston. She also trained at a prestigious ophthalmology practice in Miami, Florida specializing in glaucoma treatment and ocular disease. Prior to earning her Doctorate, Dr. Goldberg spent two years working at one of New York City’s premier pediatric ophthalmology practices specializing in strabismus and amblyopia.
In our office, Dr. Goldberg sees patients of all ages for comprehensive eye exams, medical eye care, and contact lens examinations. When not providing patient care, Dr. Goldberg enjoys running, yoga and traveling (having visited 23 countries so far). She is also a passionate skier and loves a great powder day!
